Young orangutans, sought by poachers, are often captured for the illegal wildlife trade. Once removed from the forest, most orangutans lose their survival skills. Even if rescued from captivity, many can never return to the wild.
The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) is at the frontlines in the fight to save orangutans and reintegrate them into life in the forest, where they belong. With USAID support, BOSF has released over 100 rescued orangutans back into the jungles of Kalimantan.
