First Broadcast

Voice of America, an American radio and television news broadcast, sent out its first transmissions, including to Indonesia, in 1942 following the attacks on Pearl Harbor. The U.S. War Information Agency recruited Indonesians in the United States to explain to their countrymen the U.S. entry into World War II. Currently, this international multimedia platform reaches a global audience of 236.8 million, with nearly 48 million listeners in Indonesia alone.
