Community Service

In 1958, Project HOPE (Health Opportunities for People Everywhere) adopted the U.S. Navy hospital ship, SS Hope, to serve as an international vessel providing healthcare to the South Pacific. In 1960, the SS Hope made its first voyage to Indonesia, where volunteer staff worked with local health professionals and provided services to communities such as Sumbawa Besar. Today, Project HOPE serves 26 countries and has helped more than tens of millions of people.
